| Breakdown: How long have you been on Actors Access and how did you find out about the service? Lauren: I've been on Actors Access since I moved here in January of this year. I found out about the service while researching Los Angeles and the different casting services that are used. Breakdown: Can you tell us about Ham Sandwich and your experience working on the film? Lauren: Ham Sandwich is a short film directed by David Green; it was featured on Atom.com and I heard it was going to air on Comedy Central (though I'm not sure if that has happened yet!). It's about a down-and-out office worker who buys a seemingly ordinary sandwich during his lunch break...with each bite, the sandwich takes him back further and further in time...eventually he finds himself in the 1920s, where he meets me - the flapper! For me, it was a 1 day shoot, and it was so much fun! We shot in an old abandoned Hollywood club, and the decor was straight out of the 1920s. I don't think they had to change much about the place to get it to match the period! The cast & crew were all fun & professional, and I was sad that I only had one day with everyone. Breakdown: How did you get the part for Ham Sandwich? Lauren: I submitted an Eco-Cast to the breakdown. I noticed that Bonnie Gillespie was casting it - I was very familiar with her column "The Actors Voice" and had a lot of appreciation for her already. I made an audition video with my macbook, and heard back from Bonnie within the week to tell me that I had booked it! It was certainly a great welcome to Los Angeles. Breakdown: What are your favorite Actors Access features? Lauren: I like how easy it is to customize the breakdown search to my specific type; it saves a lot of time. Breakdown: Do you have any other projects in the works? Lauren: I am actually typing this from set right now; I'm shooting an international spot for Nokia this weekend! Breakdown: What advice would you give to your fellow actors? Lauren: Stay positive, don't take anything personally, be prepared to work hard and relentlessly, and don't ever give up because you never know when great things will pop around the corner...it's also really important not to make acting EVERYTHING...have other things in your life that make you happy & fulfilled. Breakdown: How long have you been acting and what made you go into the field? Lauren: I've been performing my whole life, but made the conscious decision to pursue it 100% about 2 years ago. It's been a natural progression for me; I started performing as a child and was very involved in theatre while in school. I have been involved in the arts my whole life: I was pursuing photography for a while, have been heavily into music & guitar & actually planned on becoming a rockstar!, have traveled & lived abroad in Europe & Japan, and have worked with Special Needs kids. Basically, I've been interested in loads of fields, and love having the opportunity to explore what it's like to be all types of people via my acting. I am obsessed with what this whole "being human" thing is all about...and acting is the perfect way to express the meaning that different people give to their own lives. |
