Online auditions are offering regional actors their big break in the new fall TV lineup

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Sept. 5, 2011 – It’s fall, that means football, the leaves on trees changing color and dozens of new TV shows to watch. For the last two years Breakdown Services has helped change the way those shows are cast with its virtual audition tool, Eco-Cast. Charlie’s Angels, Person of Interest and Homeland are just a few of this year’s new TV shows that are using Eco-Cast, allowing actors to live anywhere in the country and still get cast in major TV roles.

Jeryl Prescott wanted to act her entire life. She lived in Los Angeles, auditioning every pilot season when she got the recurring role of Jacqui on the hit series The Walking Dead – by sending an Eco-Cast through her agent in North Carolina. The show, which is filmed in Atlanta, is regionally cast by Fincannon & Associates. The casting director saw the L.A. actor’s audition through the tool, which helped get her the part.

With movies like GI Joe 2, The Hunger Games and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn also using Eco-Cast, actors are getting a chance to build their resumes in a much smaller pool of actors than they would find in Los Angeles.
